About the Author

Janet E. Irvin is a career educator and an award-winning author. In addition to writing, she serves on the Springboro City Park Board as well as the Bicycling and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. She currently is a First Reader for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and reviews books for the Ohioana Quarterly.

Irvin retired from full-time teaching to concentrate on her writing. She served as chair of the International Language Department at Springboro High School, where she taught Spanish and English, then taught Spanish at Wright State University. Her fiction has received a number of awards, including a Midwest Writers Conference Fellowship and the Leo Love Fiction Award at the Taos Writers’ Conference. Her works have appeared in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, Sherlock Holmes Mystery Magazine; in literary journals, including Flights, the Oyez Review, Oasis Journal and The Broken Plate; and well online in The Zodiak Review, Literary Mama, and 42opus. In addition to her fiction, Irvin authored a regular column for the Ohio Foreign Language Association Quarterly, wrote scripts for a cable television show on mental health issues, and edited the Ohio Writing Project newsletter Projections and an online weekly newsletter called Warren County Streetmail.

Irvin’s first novel THE DARK END OF THE RAINBOW won the Jeremiah Healey Mystery Fiction Contest at the Key West Mystery Writers Fest. Her second novel — THE RULES OF THE GAME — was published in late 2016. Her third novel is tentatively scheduled for release in the fall of 2019.
